Zabul’s Shajoy Residents Self-Fund Nine Schools, Providing Safe Education to 15,000 Students

Residents of Shajoy district in Zabul province have personally funded the construction of nine mud-brick school buildings over the past two years. The project cost approximately three million Afghanis and has created a safe learning environment for around 15,000 students.

Habib-ur-Rahman Shahid, the head of education in Shajoy, stated that the local people have played a fundamental role in expanding education. In addition to building these schools, the residents have also contributed to providing clean drinking water and electricity, and they remain ready to offer further assistance if needed.

Meanwhile, several students have welcomed the establishment of a safe educational space and have called for more facilities to be provided.

According to available data, there are currently 160 active schools in Zabul province, of which 60 lack proper buildings. Nearly 85,000 students are enrolled in these schools. This data highlights that the shortage of adequate educational infrastructure remains a serious challenge in the province, with the Taliban administration facing evident difficulties in supplying standard school buildings.
