Kabul and Tehran Discuss Progress on Abu Nasr Farahi Road Project

The Taliban’s Ministry of Public Works announced that Mullah Mohammad Isa Thani, acting minister, met with Alireza Beykdeli, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Kabul, to discuss expanding economic and infrastructural cooperation between the two countries. The main focus of this meeting was the progress of the construction of the second phase of the 78-kilometer Abu Nasr Farahi road, of which 42 kilometers have been completed so far.
According to information provided during the meeting, the Iranian ambassador stated that the budget for the reconstruction of the first phase of this road has been allocated, and practical work will begin soon. This project is considered one of the key infrastructural initiatives in western Afghanistan.
The Abu Nasr Farahi road is one of the important routes for the transportation and transit of commercial goods between Afghanistan and Iran and plays a significant role in facilitating trade and the movement of goods. The completion and reconstruction of this route can have a positive impact on the level of economic exchanges in the border areas of the two countries.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties emphasized continuing close cooperation in strengthening economic relations and advancing essential infrastructural projects.
