Brazilian President Lula Expected to Visit Washington for Meeting with President Trump

Brazil’s Vice President has announced that Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the president of Brazil, is likely to travel to Washington this week to meet with Donald Trump, the president of the United States. According to him, the exact date of this trip has not yet been finalized.

Geraldo Alckmin, speaking to reporters in São Paulo, said that plans for the meeting are being finalized. He did not provide further details on the topics to be discussed between the two presidents but emphasized that the trip is on the agenda.

According to the Brazilian vice president, the last meeting between Lula and Trump was held in a “positive atmosphere.” That meeting took place on October 26, 2025, on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit.

Alckmin expressed hope that the new meeting would help strengthen relations between the two countries. He believes that expanding cooperation between Brazil and the United States would benefit “two great countries and two great democracies.”
