Power Authority and Taliban Industry Ministry Discuss Electricity Projects in Panjshir

The power company Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) has announced that Mullah Abdul Haq Hamkar, the company’s executive head, held talks with Nooruddin Azizi, the Taliban administration’s Minister of Industry and Commerce, regarding development projects for electricity infrastructure and the service needs of the country’s industrial sector. During the meeting, both parties discussed ways to ensure a stable power supply for industrialists and the expansion of production facilities.

According to Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat, Mr. Hamkar referred to his recent trips to Central Asian countries and reported on the cooperation and commitments made in the electric energy sector. He also provided information on some available facilities for industrial development and new capacities in electricity supply.

In response, the Taliban’s Minister of Industry and Commerce expressed appreciation for Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat’s efforts in expanding electricity services for the industrial sector and stated that new facilities will be provided to industrialists to achieve economic self-sufficiency. He also spoke about expanding investment opportunities in the industrial sector, a matter that has faced serious challenges in recent years due to financial constraints and reduced international engagement.

Continuing the meeting, the Minister of Industry shared proposals about implementing production projects and electricity facilities in Panjshir province with the executive head of Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat. Panjshir, a mountainous province, holds potential where the development of energy infrastructure could directly impact local economic activities.

Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat added that, following the guidance of the Taliban administration’s leadership, special attention has been given to supporting the industrial sector and a number of domestic electricity production projects have been initiated. However, experts continuously emphasize that achieving stable, nationwide electricity supply requires transparent planning, sustainable investment, and effective resource management—factors considered vital for the real growth of the industry.
