Kazakhstan’s Grain Exports to Afghanistan Quadruple in First Quarter

Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Transport announced that grain exports to Afghanistan reached 302,000 tons in the first three months of this year, marking a 4.2-fold increase compared to the same period last year.
Kazakh media on Monday cited the ministry’s report, highlighting Afghanistan as a rapidly growing market for Kazakhstan’s grain exports. This surge comes alongside an 18 percent overall increase in Kazakhstan’s grain exports, which totaled 3.2 million tons during the same timeframe.
As one of Central Asia’s largest grain producers and exporters, Kazakhstan supplies a significant portion of Afghanistan’s grain import needs. The rise in grain imports is expected to impact Afghanistan’s food market positively.
According to the report, Kazakhstan plans to establish several new grain processing companies by 2028, with a combined capacity of 5.8 million tons annually. This initiative aims to strengthen production capacity and expand export capabilities.
