14 Stolen Smartphones Recovered and 12 Arrested in Balkh

The Public Relations Office of Balkh Police Command announced that over the past month, 14 stolen smartphones were recovered by the Cyber Crimes Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department and returned to their owners.

According to the statement, these phones had been sold as used devices in the market after being stolen. Officials stated that 12 individuals have been arrested in connection with this case and are currently undergoing interrogation.

In recent years, the increased use of smartphones in major cities, including Mazar-i-Sharif, has contributed to the rise of crimes related to theft and the sale of stolen goods. Nonetheless, citizens have consistently urged the Taliban authorities not only to report arrest statistics but also to take practical and accountable measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents and ensure transparency in case handling.

The Balkh Police Command has not released further details regarding the identities of the detainees or the exact circumstances under which the phones were recovered.
