Andar: Fatwas Calling for Muslims’ Killing Contradict Quranic Teachings

Rahmatullah Andar, spokesperson for the Security Council in the former Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, shared a video featuring Maulana Fazlur Rahman, leader of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Pakistan, stating that when death fatwas are issued against Muslims, the verses of the Holy Quran and the Prophetic Hadiths are ignored.

In a message accompanying the video, Andar wrote, “When a fatwa is issued to kill another Muslim, at that moment, the blessed Quranic verses and the Prophet’s hadiths are forgotten.” He added that in Islamic teachings, killing a Muslim is considered a major sin and jihad fatwas should not be issued against them.

According to Andar, when a member of a party or group affiliated with these figures is killed, those same individuals regard the killing as a great tragedy, incomparable to any other incident. He described this approach as contradictory and hypocritical.

These remarks come in the wake of the killing of Maulana Muhammad Idris, an associate of Maulana Fazlur Rahman, who was killed yesterday by ISIS militants in Charsadda area of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has witnessed numerous security incidents and militant attacks in recent years.
