Pakistani Opposition Leader Attributes Current Insecurity to Past Policies

Mahmood Khan Achakzai, leader of opposition parties in Pakistan, stated that no one takes up arms without reason, and those responsible for today’s explosions and attacks are the same individuals who created the current situation. Referring to the period of war in Afghanistan, he added that at that time, citizens from various countries were trained in Pakistan, and as a result of those policies, ‘terrorists’ emerged from the region. According to him, the consequences of those approaches have now afflicted the region. Achakzai also emphasized that despite this background, no one has been interrogated, and no incident has been properly investigated. He implicitly called for accountability regarding the policies he believes have paved the way for the ongoing insecurity.
