Protective Wall Built in Khost to Control Seasonal Floods

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) has implemented a protective project aimed at reducing the risk of seasonal floods in the Maktab Bazaar area of Sabari district, Khost province, safeguarding the lives and livelihoods of local residents.
According to the information, seasonal floods had previously posed serious threats to homes, agricultural lands, and local businesses in the area, causing continuous damage to the everyday lives of the people.
As part of this project, with the support of the United Nations Multi-Partner Trust Fund, a 180-meter-long stone retaining wall and a 160-meter-long water channel have been constructed to control floodwaters and reduce associated risks.
Local residents state that such projects play a crucial role in protecting property and ensuring the stability of their lives, especially in areas where local infrastructure is vulnerable, and they emphasize the need to expand similar programs to other vulnerable areas.
