US Approves Arms Sales to Saudi Arabia and Bahrain

The United States Department of State has announced that President Donald Trump has officially approved the sale of a range of advanced weapons to Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. This move is part of broader arms agreements between the US and its allies in the Middle East.

According to an official report from the department, the proposed sale includes modern defense equipment and missile systems for the Saudi and Bahraini armed forces. The stated objective of these agreements is to “enhance the defensive capacities” of these countries against potential threats.

The arms package has now been submitted to the US Congress for final review and approval. If passed, the military contracts between American weapons manufacturers and the governments of Saudi Arabia and Bahrain will proceed to implementation.

The continued sale of American arms to Gulf nations, particularly Saudi Arabia—which plays a direct role in the Yemen conflict—has frequently drawn strong criticism from human rights organizations. Despite such criticism, the Trump administration has maintained its policy of strengthening Washington’s traditional allies in the region.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan, which remains mired in a deep security crisis and whose people live under the oppressive rule of the Taliban, has been largely left without comparable strategic and military support from the international community. This disparity has once again raised questions over the perceived double standards in US foreign policy.
