Iran to Host Regional Meeting on Afghanistan Next Week

Iran will host a regional meeting next week to discuss the situation in Afghanistan, according to a statement from the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson. The meeting, to be held in Tehran, will include representatives from neighboring countries and aims to enhance cooperation toward achieving peace and stability in Afghanistan.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei stated that Iran maintains regular and ongoing talks with neighboring states, including Pakistan and Afghanistan, and is working to strengthen regional coordination on security and stability matters. He stressed that Iran remains committed to reducing tensions among regional countries and fostering mutual understanding.
Regional experts believe that such meetings offer an opportunity to raise legitimate concerns of neighboring countries regarding border security and the well-being of Afghan citizens, especially as the Taliban’s administration in Afghanistan faces both internal and external challenges. However, the success of such initiatives depends on the level of commitment and practical cooperation from all involved parties.
