Taliban Representative Meets Qatari Official to Discuss Urban Cooperation Between Kabul and Doha

Mohammed Sohail Shaheen, the Taliban’s representative in Qatar, held talks with Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiyah, Qatar’s Minister of Municipality, on expanding joint cooperation between the municipalities of Kabul and Doha.
The Afghan Embassy in Doha announced in a statement on its X page that the meeting focused on technical and urban cooperation, with both sides sharing their views on developing urban infrastructure.
According to the statement, discussions included the construction and repair of roads, building overhead and ground bridges, as well as capacity-building programs for employees of urban departments.
These talks come at a time when, following the Taliban’s return to power, Afghanistan’s foreign relations have mostly continued at the level of technical contacts and limited diplomatic engagement, while issues of legitimacy and accountability of the administration remain key challenges in international interactions.
