Putin Congratulates Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei on His Appointment as Iran’s Third Supreme Leader
The Kremlin announced that Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, sent a message congratulating Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei on his selection as the third leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution. In the message, Putin expressed hope that the new leader would continue the path of his predecessor.
According to the statement attributed to the Russian president, he told Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei that he is confident he will “honorably continue his father’s path.”
The message further stated that Iran resists what it terms “armed aggression,” and that the country’s leadership role requires great courage and sacrifice.
Putin also emphasized Moscow’s continued support for Tehran, adding that Russia considers itself a reliable partner for Iran and that this cooperation will persist. Relations between Tehran and Moscow have expanded in recent years across political, economic, and military sectors, with both sides stressing the development of bilateral ties.
