Taliban Accuse Pakistan of Border Violations and Mistreatment of Afghan Refugees

Amir Khan Muttaqi, acting foreign minister of the Taliban administration, has accused Pakistan of violating Afghanistan’s sovereignty, closing transit routes, and mistreating Afghan refugees, despite the Taliban’s patient approach toward Islamabad.
Speaking at a meeting with political analysts, Muttaqi stressed that decision-making in Pakistan lacks a unified authority. He argued that the absence of a clear decision-making structure in the country has led to increased instability and contradictory actions.
Citing recent remarks by Ishaq Dar, a senior Pakistani official, Muttaqi said: “When an official says he obtained simultaneous permission from both the army chief and the prime minister on a single matter, it shows that Pakistan has multiple leaders, not a centralized decision-making body.”
Regarding political dialogue between the two countries, the Taliban official noted that their delegation had focused on present realities during the consultations. However, he claimed that the demands made by the Pakistani side were completely unacceptable.
Muttaqi added that Pakistan’s issues are not limited to Afghanistan, but also extend to internal political groups, religious scholars, and many neighboring countries. He noted that the country’s economic situation is worsening as well.
He said Afghanistan maintains relatively good economic and diplomatic relations with most of its neighbors and identified Pakistan as the only problematic country in this regard.
Criticizing Pakistan’s closure of transit routes, Muttaqi said such actions violate international norms and increase pressure on the Afghan people. He called on Pakistan to reconsider its policies and appealed to the international community and neighboring countries to prevent actions that impose further hardship on Afghanistan’s population.
