Five New Water Supply Networks Launched in Ghor to Serve 1,089 Families

Local officials in Ghor have announced the commencement of construction on five new water supply networks across several districts in the province. Upon completion, these projects will provide 1,089 families with access to safe drinking water.
Zabihullah Ghoushi-zada, the press officer for Ghor’s Directorate of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, stated that the networks are being implemented in the villages of Badgah and Sukhteh Olya in the Firuzkoh center, Chehelgazi village in the Dulina district, Posht-e-Tangi village in Taywara district, and Hisartitan village in Saghar district.
According to him, the projects include the construction of six water reservoirs with a total capacity of 180 cubic meters, the installation of 519 water taps, and the extension of 41,166 meters of piping. The total cost of these initiatives is reported to be 33,572,469 Afghanis, funded by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and executed through the Directorate of Rural Rehabilitation and Development.
Officials say that once operational, these networks will help reduce waterborne diseases and improve the living standards of local residents. The lack of safe water continues to be a serious challenge in many rural areas of Ghor.
Residents of these villages have described the project launch as a significant step towards fairer access to basic services and balanced development in the remote regions of Ghor.
