Kabul and Astana Hold Talks on Water and Energy Cooperation

The Taliban’s Ministry of Water and Energy has announced that the Deputy Minister of Water met with Kazakhstan’s ambassador in Kabul to discuss the expansion of cooperation in the water and energy sectors. According to the ministry’s statement, the main focus of the meeting was to broaden bilateral collaboration, especially in water resource management and the development of energy projects. Both sides emphasized strengthening technical relations and utilizing existing capacities. Mujib-ur-Rahman Omar Akhundzada, Deputy Minister of Water at the Ministry of Water and Energy, described regional cooperation as crucial for effective water resource management and advancing sustainable energy development programs. He expressed the ministry’s readiness to better utilize available resources. Meanwhile, Gaziz Akbasov, Kazakhstan’s ambassador to Kabul, underlined his country’s interest in investing in Afghanistan’s water and energy projects and assured that scientific and technical cooperation between the two parties would continue. The statement further noted that at the end of the meeting, both sides emphasized the continuation of dialogues and the enhancement of cooperation in the aforementioned sectors between Afghanistan and Kazakhstan.
