Medvedev Warns US Ground Invasion of Iran Would End in ‘Crushing Defeat’

Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council, has warned that a US ground invasion of Iran would result in a “severe and crushing defeat.” He emphasized that such an action would entail heavy costs and unpredictable consequences.

Referring to historical experiences, Medvedev said entering a ground war in Iran could place the US in a situation similar to the Vietnam War, a conflict that lasted for years and resulted in extensive casualties and costs. According to him, the geographic complexities and regional conditions make any military operation difficult and protracted.

Russian officials have previously cautioned against what they termed “military adventurism” in the Middle East. They stressed that escalating military tensions in the region could pose serious challenges to both regional and global stability and security.
