Taliban Administration Announces Progress on Second Kabul-Nangarhar Road

The Taliban’s Ministry of Public Works spokesperson has announced that construction of the second Kabul-Nangarhar road has been divided into two sections and has simultaneously begun from both Kabul and Nangarhar provinces. According to the spokesperson, this project is considered one of the important infrastructure plans in the eastern part of the country.

Mohammad Ashraf Haqshenas stated that the total length of this road is approximately 147 kilometers. So far, 65 kilometers have been completed, and construction work is ongoing on the remaining 83 kilometers in two sections.

He added that work on the third section of the project is expected to begin soon. However, no details have been provided regarding the exact completion timeline, allocated budget, or the companies responsible for implementation.

The Kabul-Nangarhar road is one of the country’s key transit and economic routes, connecting Kabul province to Nangarhar province and the Torkham border crossing. Residents of these areas have previously called for faster progress and greater transparency in infrastructure projects, as completing this route could play an important role in reducing traffic accidents and improving transportation.
