Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohrab Afridi Rejects Closed-Door Policies on Afghanistan

Sohrab Afridi, the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, declared that formulating policies about Afghanistan behind closed doors is unacceptable and that the public must be informed about decisions. He emphasized that Pakistan is not the private property of any individual or group and that its citizens are the true owners of the country.
Afridi made these remarks during a large public gathering in the Pishin area. At this event, he openly criticized Pakistan’s presidential policies, noting that whenever questions arise about how policies are made, critics are told to “go to Afghanistan.”
He further stated that regarding matters related to Iran, similar reactions occur when requests are made for the people and parliament to be informed. Afridi added that important regional decisions should be made transparently and with the consideration of representatives of the people.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister spoke in a sharp tone: “Is this Pakistan your father’s property? This country belongs to us, and we are its owners.” He asserted that ordinary citizens themselves are the “presidency” and that no one has the right to tell them to leave the country in response to legitimate questions.
