Concerns Rise Over Civilian Safety After Attack in Nuristan

The spokesperson for Nuristan province has announced that the bodies of a female doctor and her son, who were killed in an attack by Pakistani military forces on the first day of Eid, have been handed over to their families.
Fereydoun Samim told the media that the incident occurred when the vehicle carrying the mother and son was targeted in the Bagiche area of Kamdish district. According to him, both lost their lives as a result of the attack.
Kamdish district is one of the border areas of Nuristan with Pakistan; regions that have experienced repeated tensions and border clashes in recent years.
This attack took place while a ceasefire had been declared for Eid. The occurrence of such an event during the announced ceasefire has heightened concerns about continued insecurity in the border areas and the safety of civilians.
