25 Mortar Shells Fired on Kunar Despite Ceasefire Announcement

The Directorate of Information and Culture of Kunar has reported that at least 25 mortar shells were fired by the Pakistani military on parts of the province in the past 24 hours. According to Zia-ur-Rahman Spin-Ghar, head of information at the directorate, the shelling targeted the areas of Doklam, Brekot, and Tsonglah.
He added that heavy weapons fire from Pakistani forces is still ongoing. Residents of these areas are following the situation with concern.
This comes while the Pakistani military had announced two days ago that it would observe a ceasefire with the Taliban administration until the end of Eid. The continued attacks in Kunar have raised questions about the implementation of this ceasefire and how border tensions between the two sides are being managed.
Kunar province, located in eastern Afghanistan and bordering Pakistan, has witnessed repeated cross-border clashes and shelling over the past years. So far, the Taliban administration has not officially released detailed information regarding casualties or potential damages from this incident.
