UN Condemns Attack on Iranian Gas Facilities, Urges Protection of Civilian Infrastructure

The United Nations has condemned the attack on Iran’s gas facilities, emphasizing that civilian infrastructure must never be targeted under any circumstances. A UN deputy spokesperson stressed that the organization opposes such actions and insists on the immunity of these sites.

Farhan Haq, the Deputy Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, did not name the perpetrator of the attack but stated that all parties must regard civilian infrastructure as protected locations. According to him, this principle is part of the commitments accepted under international laws and norms.

He further asserted that the United Nations condemns attacks against civilian targets no matter which party conducts them. He added that the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East have no military solution and that only through dialogue and political measures can tensions be reduced.
