FAO Predicts Higher March Temperatures and Variable Rainfall in Afghanistan Impacting Agriculture

The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has announced that air temperatures in Afghanistan during March of this year are expected to be higher than normal. The organization also stated that rainfall in the eastern provinces and some central areas will exceed average levels.

According to FAO’s forecast, rainfall in other parts of the country is estimated to be below average. This variation in precipitation levels could affect agricultural conditions in different regions.

FAO added that the majority of rainfall will occur in late March. According to the organization, these rains could generally play a role in irrigating crops.

Afghanistan is one of the countries whose economy is largely dependent on agriculture, and climate change and weather fluctuations have a direct impact on the livelihoods of residents, especially in rural areas.
