Islam Qala Border Crossing Remains Active Amid Iran Developments; Hundreds of Trucks Transit Daily

Officials at the Islam Qala border in Herat province have announced that despite ongoing developments in Iran, the movement of cargo trucks and the transfer of commercial goods between Afghanistan and Iran continues uninterrupted. According to them, approximately 600 cargo trucks travel daily from Afghanistan to Iran, while nearly 700 trucks enter Afghanistan from Iran.
These officials emphasized that monitoring of the domestic markets is ongoing and traders have been warned against arbitrary price increases. They stated that the aim of this measure is to prevent potential exploitation and maintain market stability.
Meanwhile, several residents have called for stricter price control in the markets. They argue that in the current sensitive economic conditions, the Taliban administration needs to exert more effective control over imported goods prices to avoid imposing additional pressure on citizens.
Additionally, some citizens stress the importance of supporting domestic production, believing that strengthening local manufacturing can reduce dependence on imports and contribute to long-term economic stability. Islam Qala border is considered one of Afghanistan’s most important trade gateways with Iran and plays a key role in the supply of imported goods.
