India Closely Monitoring Afghanistan-Pakistan Border Tensions

Amid rising tensions along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, Indian Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that New Delhi fully supports Afghanistan’s independence, territorial integrity, and sovereignty.

Speaking at a press conference in New Delhi on Thursday, October 15, Jaiswal said India is closely monitoring developments along the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

He sharply criticized Islamabad’s policies, accusing Pakistan of sheltering terrorist groups and supporting destabilizing activities in the region, particularly against neighboring countries. Jaiswal emphasized that rather than taking responsibility, the Pakistani government shifts the blame for its internal failures onto others.

He also remarked that Pakistan’s dissatisfaction with Afghanistan’s reassertion of control over its territory reflects Islamabad’s interventionist and extremist policies.

In another part of his remarks, Jaiswal revealed that India plans to upgrade its diplomatic mission in Afghanistan from a technical office to a full-fledged embassy in the coming days, although he did not provide details about the level of political engagement with the Taliban-led administration. This move is seen as potentially increasing India’s role in Afghanistan’s future political landscape.
