Taliban Announces Offensive Operations Against Pakistani Military Posts Along Durand Line

Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Taliban administration, has announced that Taliban forces have launched a large-scale offensive operation targeting Pakistani military centers and facilities along the Durand Line. According to him, 15 Pakistani military posts have been captured so far, with several Pakistani soldiers either killed or detained—claims that have not been independently verified.

On Thursday evening, March 7, Mujahid released a statement on X (formerly Twitter), stating that this operation was launched in response to Pakistani attacks on Afghan territory. Initially, he reported the capture of seven posts, but later updated the number to 15.

According to information released by the Taliban administration, two posts in the Mashin Nau area of the Durbaba district in Nangarhar province, three posts in the Anargi area of Gushta district, and two posts in the Doklam area of Nari district in Kunar province have been seized. Mujahid also reported the presence of “extensive laser units” along the Durand Line and claimed that Pakistani forces were targeted during the darkness of night.

These developments have intensified following reports of Pakistani airstrikes in parts of Nangarhar and Paktika provinces. These strikes have resulted in the deaths of several Nangarhar residents and the destruction of numerous homes, raising serious concerns about civilian safety and escalating border tensions.

The increase in clashes along the Durand Line, which has long been a disputed boundary between the two countries, has once again raised questions about managing border tensions and their impact on the security of border communities. Continued conflict could further complicate the humanitarian and security situation in the region.
