Taliban Ministry Presents Draft National Public Health Strategy

The Taliban-run Ministry of Public Health has announced the presentation and explanation of the draft National Public Health Strategy in a meeting chaired by Noor Jalal Jalali, with the participation of deputies and technical officials of the ministry. According to the ministry, this document is intended to set the framework for health sector activities for the next five years.

Based on published information, technical details of the draft were explained during the meeting, and participants shared their views and suggestions to further complete and enrich it. It was also stated that an operational and implementation plan for this strategy will be prepared in the near future.

The Minister of Public Health described the drafting of the national health strategy as an essential need for organizing the country’s health affairs and emphasized that this document could serve as a clear guideline for health officials.

This comes at a time when Afghanistan’s health system has faced extensive challenges in recent years, including shortages of resources, reduced international aid, and limited access in some remote areas. Despite the Taliban administration’s emphasis on providing standard services and expanding health service delivery, citizens in several provinces still complain about the lack of medical centers and necessary facilities — an issue that poses a serious test for the successful implementation of this strategy.
