Bus Overturns in Badghis; Eight Dead and Several Injured

Local officials in Badghis have reported that eight people have died and several others were injured following the overturning of a 303 passenger vehicle on the Herat-Badghis highway. The incident occurred in the Band Sabzak area.
Sediqullah Sediqi, spokesperson for the Badghis police command, stated that the provided casualty figures are preliminary and that the number of fatalities may increase. He added that the injured have been transferred to medical centers, but the exact number of wounded remains unclear.
According to provided information, the vehicle, carrying 44 passengers from Herat to Badghis province, veered off the main route and overturned in the Band Sabzak area. Band Sabzak is known as one of the mountainous and dangerous routes in the western part of the country.
Some eyewitnesses say only five passengers survived unharmed, while others were either killed or injured. So far, the Taliban administration has not provided an explanation regarding the exact cause of the incident. Similar events on the country’s highways have repeatedly raised concerns about road conditions, traffic supervision, and passenger safety.
