Heavy Snowfall Disrupts Lives of Hundreds of Families Across Several Afghan Provinces

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has announced that heavy snowfall in various parts of Afghanistan has posed serious winter challenges for a large number of residents.
According to the agency’s data, its relief teams have managed to distribute emergency aid to 681 affected families in the provinces of Kunar, Paktia, Paktika, Parwan, Kandahar, and Herat. These aid deliveries come at a time when many families are facing shortages of adequate shelter, food supplies, and heating facilities.
IOM emphasized that the support process for vulnerable families is ongoing, with efforts focused on reaching those most severely impacted by the harsh cold.
While international organizations continue addressing the emergency situation, the Taliban administration is expected to take serious responsibility for coordination, facilitating access, and responding to the urgent needs of residents in the affected regions. This role has faced extensive criticism in many past winters due to weak preparedness and poor responsiveness.
