Kabul Municipality Approves New Ramadan Price List to Ease Market Costs

The Kabul Municipality has announced that on the eve of the holy month of Ramadan, the Commission to Prevent Hoarding and Control Prices, after holding an official meeting, has prepared and finalized 53 new price lists for the markets in Kabul city.

According to the municipality, the new price list was formulated following comprehensive discussions among commission members to enable Kabul residents to purchase raw materials and essentials needed for Ramadan at more affordable prices and better quality from the markets.

The Kabul Municipality stated that the main goal of this initiative is to facilitate citizens in the coming days, and the process of controlling and monitoring the implementation of the price list will continue regularly across different districts of the city.

Engineer Esmatullah Ansar, Deputy Director of Market Regulation at Kabul Municipality, said that topics such as preventing overpricing, importing raw materials from neighboring countries, and the impact of currency fluctuations on prices were reviewed during the meeting.

According to officials, the commission has pledged to strive for continuous control over the prices of essential goods and to take legal action against violators.

The meeting was attended by representatives from Kabul Municipality, Ministries of Commerce, Finance, Justice, and Interior, intelligence agencies, the Central Bank, the Supreme Oversight Authority, the National Statistics and Information Authority, chambers of commerce and investment, tradespeople and shopkeepers, the Emirati Oil and Gas Company, the Standards and Quality Directorate, and representatives of various guilds.
