Third Private Sector Working Group Meeting Held in Kabul under Doha Process Framework

The third meeting of the Private Sector Working Group, held under the framework of the Doha Process, took place at the Kabul Grand Hotel both in-person and online, hosted by the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) office.

The meeting was attended by representatives from several departments of the Taliban administration, the Central Bank of Afghanistan, UNAMA, and other UN-affiliated organizations, as well as representatives from international and regional organizations, ambassadors, diplomats, and experts.

According to released information, the meeting was organized in two parts: the first focused on economic growth and inclusion, while the second addressed coordination and transparency in activities related to the private sector.

Taliban officials at the meeting spoke about what they described as “achievements” in the economic sector. However, given that Afghanistan’s private sector still faces widespread restrictions, lack of transparent frameworks, and the consequences of the Taliban administration’s restrictive policies, several participants emphasized the continuation of cooperation and increased coordination—an issue that remains seriously in doubt without policy reforms and guarantees of a secure and predictable investment environment.
