UNDP and WHO Complete Joint Review of Malaria Program in Laghman and Nangarhar

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the World Health Organization (WHO) have completed a joint mission reviewing the malaria program in the provinces of Laghman and Nangarhar.
During this mission, the performance of ongoing programs was examined, and discussions were held with local partners to identify challenges and strengthen malaria control efforts in Afghanistan. The main goal of this evaluation was to improve coordination and enhance the effectiveness of health interventions in vulnerable areas.
The findings of this review are set to be utilized in planning the next round of funding from the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, ensuring that future resources are allocated more strategically.
Health experts emphasize that the continuation of such evaluations, especially given the current difficult conditions of Afghanistan’s health system, is crucial for reducing the incidence of malaria and improving residents’ access to preventive and treatment services.
