Russian Ambassador: Sweden’s Military Aid to Ukraine Reaches $9 Billion

The Russian ambassador to Sweden has stated that Stockholm has sent a total of $9 billion in military aid to Ukraine since the beginning of the war, a figure that includes equipment and defensive support.

Sergei Belayev told the RIA Novosti news agency that this aid has been continuously provided to Ukraine since the start of what Moscow calls a “special military operation,” playing a significant role in supporting Kyiv militarily.

According to the Russian diplomat, Sweden also plans to allocate about $8 billion in 2026 and 2027 for purchasing weapons, financing defense industries, and other forms of assistance to Ukraine.

Meanwhile, despite several rounds of talks between Moscow and Kyiv, the war continues, with territorial disputes cited as the main obstacle to progress in negotiations. Both sides are attempting to maintain and expand the areas under their control, both on the battlefield and in the negotiation process, to gain the upper hand.
