Taliban Ministry Conducts Groundwater Surveys for Lashkar Gah Water Supply Network

The Directorate of Groundwater Resources at the Taliban Ministry of Water and Energy has announced that their survey and exploration teams have conducted preliminary hydrogeological assessments and geophysical investigations in the city of Lashkar Gah and several districts of Helmand province.

According to the information provided, these surveys were carried out in various areas of Lashkar Gah city as well as the districts of Babaji, Washir, and Nahre Saraj. The primary objective is to establish the groundwork for developing an urban water supply network and providing drinking water to migrant settlements.

The Directorate stated that the surveys aim to identify the capacity of groundwater resources and the potential for sustainable usage to meet the growing demands of the residents in these regions.

Access to safe drinking water remains a serious challenge in parts of Helmand. The implementation of such programs could play a vital role in improving the living conditions of both residents and migrants. However, transparency regarding the results and continuity of these projects remain key demands of the local population.
