Thousands Displaced in Tirah Valley Following Military Operation Warnings

In recent weeks, tens of thousands of residents of Tirah Valley in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province have been forced to abandon their homes after leaflets warning of a possible military operation were distributed.

Local inhabitants say these leaflets, circulated through mosques, explicitly ordered evacuation of the areas, forcing families to migrate to nearby towns and regions despite the severe winter cold.

The displaced have complained about the difficulties of navigating mountainous routes, harsh cold, and shortages of basic necessities such as shelter and food. They state that the sudden, unprepared mass migration has severely worsened their living conditions.

Meanwhile, Shandana Gulzar Khan, a former member of Pakistan’s National Assembly, has claimed that if the United States fails to secure the Bagram airbase, it has been promised a base in the Tirah region.

She mentioned that this issue has been raised by certain Western diplomatic circles but emphasized that the claim has not been confirmed and is legally questionable. She also stated that she does not possess precise or official information on the matter.
