Iran and Taliban Administration Discuss Enhanced Border Cooperation

The acting ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Kabul met with Afghanistan’s Minister of Borders, Tribes, and Ethnicities to discuss bilateral cooperation on strengthening and managing their shared borders.
According to released information, Alireza Beikdeli emphasized in the meeting with Noorullah Noori that expanding border cooperation could help fortify relations between Iran and Afghanistan. He stated that these collaborations can be pursued within the framework of bilateral interactions between the two sides.
During the meeting, the border issue was highlighted as a crucial area of engagement between the neighboring countries—an area that directly affects cross-border movement, border area security, and the lives of residents in bordering regions.
These talks come at a time when the Taliban administration, over the past three years, has sought to manage its regional relations through official engagements and diplomatic meetings. However, despite these efforts, questions and criticisms remain concerning transparency and accountability.
