Russian Diplomat: Russia’s Security Guarantees Are Key to Ukraine’s Safety

Alexander Grushko, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister, stated that any lasting security guarantees for Ukraine are impossible without considering Russia’s security, a point he says the West ignores.
According to Russian media, Grushko responded to Western attempts to provide security assurances to Kyiv by emphasizing that Moscow has repeatedly stressed that security in Europe must be ensured in a way that also takes into account Russia’s security interests.
He also referred to statements by French officials, adding that if Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, truly wants to engage in talks with Vladimir Putin, this request should be communicated through official diplomatic channels to Moscow, rather than through media messages.
In recent months, French officials have repeatedly expressed Macron’s readiness to meet with the Russian president; however, France’s open and consistent support for Ukraine has escalated tensions and cooled political relations between Paris and Moscow.
