Taliban teaches children to use weapons at religious school in Badakhshan

The Taliban administration has taught children how to use weapons at a religious school in Badakhshan.
In an image released by the Taliban administration, several children can be seen alongside Kalashnikov rifles next to members of the group. Local sources have identified the location of this religious school as Khash district in Badakhshan province.
Over the past five years, repeated reports have been published about the Taliban administration training and equipping children and teenagers with light weapons. The group has even given children mock bombs and roadside mines, and trained them to use these war tools.
The use of children in military activities is considered a clear violation of children’s rights and international law, and has wide-ranging negative consequences for the lives and future of these children. While the international community has repeatedly warned about this issue, the Taliban administration has so far taken no action to prevent these practices.
