Trump Criticizes US Withdrawal from Bagram Airbase as a Major Mistake

Donald Trump, the current President of the United States, has once again criticized the manner in which American forces withdrew from Afghanistan, emphasizing that the US should not have abandoned Bagram Airbase.

On Tuesday, January 19, during a press conference at the White House, Trump accused the Joe Biden administration of mismanaging the withdrawal process from Afghanistan. He stated that the decision to leave Bagram was one of the greatest mistakes.

The US President described the troop withdrawal and the killing of 13 American soldiers in the Kabul airport bombing as “the weakest moment in American history,” an event after which the Taliban regained full control of Afghanistan.

Referring to his own previous presidential term, Trump added that he was also planning a withdrawal from Afghanistan but claimed it would have been conducted “with dignity and strength.” He emphasized that at that time, armed groups did not dare to act against American forces.
