Gaza Official: Closed Crossings Block Thousands of Aid Trucks in 2025

A government official in the Gaza Strip stated that in 2025, the prolonged closure of crossings has severely disrupted the entry of humanitarian aid and fuel, imposing heavy consequences on the lives of the region’s residents.

Ismail Al-Thawabteh, head of the government information office in Gaza, said that the crossings have been completely closed for a total of 220 days, resulting in approximately 132,000 trucks carrying humanitarian aid being denied entry. According to him, these restrictions have sharply reduced access to food, medicine, and essential supplies for the people.

Al-Thawabteh noted that out of a total of 18,250 fuel trucks—which include diesel and cooking gas—that were scheduled to enter Gaza, only 1,460 trucks were allowed passage. This situation has posed serious challenges to the operations of service centers, health facilities, and relief organizations.

He added that amid these conditions, more than 40 charitable kitchens and 50 aid distribution centers have been targeted, leading to the deaths of 500 relief workers and volunteers. This has sparked widespread criticism regarding the protection of humanitarian personnel.

Meanwhile, medical sources in Gaza report a severe shortage of medical equipment at Al-Shifa Hospital. They stated that the absence of MRI machines due to extensive destruction of equipment during the recent war has seriously hindered the diagnosis of illnesses and internal injuries, leaving patients waiting for long periods or entirely deprived of diagnostic services.
