UN Agency Warns Cold Weather and Rain Worsen Humanitarian Crisis in Gaza

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has warned that severe cold, rain, and flooding have significantly exacerbated the suffering of Gaza Strip residents, placing thousands of families in critical conditions.

According to the agency, families living in tents, damaged buildings, and overcrowded shelters are facing harsh cold with no safe alternative places to go. This situation poses serious risks, especially for children, the elderly, and the sick.

UNRWA emphasized that the current consequences are not only due to the weather conditions but also rooted in human factors that have hindered the delivery of essential aid and shelter supplies at the necessary scale.

The UN-linked agency has called for humanitarian aid and shelter items to be allowed into Gaza urgently and on a large scale to prevent further deterioration of the humanitarian crisis.
