The head of the Afghanistan Electric Supply Authority, Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat, has announced that the roadmap for the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan (TAP) power transmission project has been completed and is set to be sent to Turkmenistan in the near future.
Abdul Bari Omar, the CEO of Breshna, made this statement following a meeting with a Turkmen delegation. He noted that both parties reviewed the progress of the TAP project and the next steps for its implementation during the discussions.
According to Omar, during the meeting, the Taliban administration’s plan to generate electricity using hydrocarbons transported via the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India (TAPI) gas pipeline was also shared with the Turkmen delegation. Emphasis was placed on concluding discussions regarding the gas tariff.
Turkmen officials, stressing the continuation of close cooperation, described the TAP and TAPI projects as vital for enhancing bilateral energy cooperation and supporting the economic interests of both countries.
Earlier, on October 20, 2025, Turkmenistan approved the next phase of work on the main section of the TAPI gas pipeline along the Serhetabat–Herat route, a corridor that highlights Herat province as a key regional transit hub in this project.
