Sana’a Official Blames Arab Governments’ Dependence for Israeli Influence in Region

Abdulwahid Aburas, Deputy Foreign Minister of the government based in Sana’a, stated that Israel’s announcement recognizing Somaliland as an independent country should be understood within the framework of the so-called “New Middle East” plan.

In an interview with Yemeni media, he added that the openings for Israeli influence in the region are the result of dependency policies and reliance on external actors by some Arab governments; policies which, in his view, have created grounds for further interventions.

The Sana’a official also identified the United States as a partner in this process, saying recent statements indicate that Washington and Israel have divided roles between themselves—a path that, according to him, has direct consequences for regional stability.

Aburas criticized some Arab governments for limiting themselves to issuing statements, calling this approach shirking responsibility. He warned that continuing such a situation could lead to increased foreign interventions and separatist projects in the Arab world.
