Taliban Representative Welcomed at Sunni Religious School in Chabahar

During the visit of the Taliban administration’s representative in Iran to the city of Chabahar, officials and students at the Sunni religious school ‘Al-Haramin wa Al-Sharafayn’ welcomed him.

According to published reports from the meeting, several students at this religious school chanted slogans in support of the ‘Islamic Emirate,’ the term the Taliban use for their ruling structure in Afghanistan.

This event takes place while the Taliban administration, after regaining control over Afghanistan, faces widespread domestic and international criticism due to severe restrictions on citizens’ rights, particularly those of women and girls, and has yet to receive official international recognition.

Some observers believe that such receptions, without regard for human rights conditions and the wishes of the Afghan people, could contribute to normalizing relations with a regime that lacks transparent accountability to both Afghan society and the global community.
