Imran Khan Calls for Nationwide Protests in Pakistan Following 17-Year Prison Sentence

Imran Khan, former Prime Minister of Pakistan, has called on his supporters to stage protests across the country in response to a court ruling that sentenced him and his wife to 17 years in prison.

In a message posted on his X social media account, Khan described the sentence as “psychological torture” for himself and his wife and added that he is being deprived of access to basic rights and facilities in prison.

Khan emphasized that the protests should be held as a reaction to the court’s decision, which he claims is unfair and not based on legal principles.

The former Prime Minister further alleged that, in Pakistan, the rule of law has been replaced by the will of Army Chief Asim Munir, and that judicial verdicts are pre-written and only read out in court for enforcement.
