ILO Conducts Financial Management Training for Entrepreneurs in Eastern Afghanistan

In November 2025, the International Labour Organization (ILO) held a financial management training course as part of its STFA program for a number of entrepreneurs and owners of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in eastern Afghanistan. A total of 218 participants—109 women and 109 men—either business owners or aspiring entrepreneurs, took part in the training aimed at enhancing their financial management skills and improving their decision-making abilities in business operations.
According to the organizers, the training focused on topics such as financial planning, budgeting, and improved methods for managing income and expenses in small and medium businesses. Supporting women and raising their awareness about financial administration methods were key elements of the program.
At a time when the Taliban administration is imposing significant restrictions on economic activity and entrepreneurship, particularly for women, such programs by international organizations can play a critical role in building resilience and ensuring the sustainability of businesses in the region. Despite numerous challenges, the implementation of this training highlights ongoing efforts to promote economic development and support Afghanistan’s entrepreneurial community.
