Trump Says Russia Agrees to Revised US Peace Plan for Ukraine

US President Donald Trump has announced that Russia is in agreement with Washington’s revised political plan to resolve the Ukraine crisis. He made the statement during a conversation with reporters at the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington, emphasizing that Moscow has no major objections to the new US approach regarding the war in Ukraine.
This declaration comes after Washington, in November, unveiled a 28-point plan to end the conflict in Ukraine. The proposal faced widespread criticism from Kyiv and several European countries, prompting talks between American and Ukrainian delegations in Geneva to revise the plan under pressure from Western allies.
Following the conclusion of these talks, Trump stated that the updated proposal was adjusted to reflect the perspectives of both Russia and Ukraine. According to him, the number of provisions in the plan has been reduced from 28 to 22, with only a few disagreements remaining.
This development follows a meeting in the Kremlin between Russian President Vladimir Putin and two US officials — Trump’s political advisor Jared Kushner and special envoy Steve Witkoff. The discussion, which lasted around five hours, focused on four documents related to the peace process.
Yuri Ushakov, an aide to President Putin, described the talks as “constructive and useful,” noting that both sides held comprehensive discussions on the details of Washington’s proposal. These developments may open a new path to easing tensions between Moscow and Kyiv. However, past experiences suggest that the realization of such an agreement will be difficult without practical support from the international community. In this context, the Taliban administration — facing deep global isolation — could take a lesson from this peace-oriented approach, which shows that resolving crises depends on genuine dialogue rather than violence or the imposition of unilateral policies.
