Israeli Airstrikes Hit Displaced Persons Camps in Gaza, Killing Five

Israeli forces carried out airstrikes on displaced persons camps in western Khan Younis late last night, despite a previously declared ceasefire, resulting in the deaths of five people, including two children, according to media reports.

The Kuwait Specialized Hospital in Gaza confirmed the fatalities and stated that the attack was carried out by Israeli combat drones targeting tents in the Al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis. Al Jazeera’s correspondent reported that several local residents were also injured in the strikes.

Simultaneously, various areas in eastern Gaza City faced heavy shelling and military operations by the Israeli army. Local sources reported that Israeli tanks and small drones (quadcopters) opened fire on Palestinian positions at the Shuja’iyya junction, and artillery shelling, according to Palestinian officials, also struck some residential areas.

In a separate incident, Israeli attack helicopters struck parts of eastern Gaza City. Additionally, reports indicated that Israeli armored vehicles fired on northern Rafah in southern Gaza, and demolition operations targeting buildings in eastern Gaza City continued.

In another development, Israeli media reported that four Israeli soldiers were injured during clashes with Palestinian fighters in Rafah, one of whom is in critical condition. The Israeli military stated that the fighting began when armed individuals emerged from a tunnel in eastern Rafah.

Israeli military radio, citing military officials, claimed that two members of the Palestinian resistance were killed in the clash, while a third individual reportedly returned to the tunnel after placing an improvised explosive device on a military vehicle.

These attacks and casualties come amid weeks of escalating conflict in the Gaza Strip, which has drawn international concern over rising violence, particularly against civilians.
