US and Russian Officials Hold High-Level Talks on Ukraine in Moscow

Amid a surge in drone attacks on the Ukrainian frontlines, Moscow hosted a high-level meeting last night between senior Russian and American officials to discuss peace efforts in Ukraine.

According to Russian media reports, Leonid Sharov, head of the press center for Russia’s Western Combat Group, stated that forces from this group targeted several Ukrainian drones over the past 24 hours. He said that six fixed-wing drones and 52 enemy ‘Vampire’ hexacopters were shot down. Additionally, 13 electronic warfare stations, 32 drone control centers, and four ammunition depots were destroyed.

Meanwhile, Dmitry Miskov, press officer for Russia’s Eastern Combat Group, reported that his unit eliminated five Ukrainian drone command centers and, in an offensive operation, destroyed several logistics hubs and sensitive equipment, including a Starlink communications station.

Despite the intensification of military operations, the diplomatic meeting in Moscow took place as scheduled, with the U.S. delegation led by Steve Witkoff, special envoy of President Donald Trump. Details of the discussions have not yet been made public.

Reports indicate that prior to their trip to Russia, the American delegation met with Ukrainian officials in Florida—a meeting that U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio described as productive.

A few weeks ago, President Donald Trump proposed a 28-point plan to resolve the Ukraine crisis. The plan includes controversial suggestions such as ceding parts of Ukrainian territory to Russia, which has sparked significant debate among Western officials and political analysts.
