UN Special Representative Emphasizes Protection of Journalists in Afghanistan

Robab Fatima, the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Representative in Afghanistan and head of the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), on November 2nd, on the occasion of the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists, emphasized the vital role of journalists in advancing dialogue, peace, and good governance.

She stated that the safety and protection of journalists, who dedicate themselves to seeking the truth, must be a top priority for everyone in Afghanistan and worldwide.

These remarks come amid a context where journalists in Afghanistan face various security threats and severe restrictions, making their work difficult and dangerous.
